Carryduff win U12 An Riocht Tournament
    (added 01/07/2009)

Carryduff U 12s had a superb win on Saturday when they carried off the silverware at the An Riocht tournament.

With 16 teams competing it was an opportunity for Carryduff to test themselves against the best from South Down. In the Group stages, Carryduff emerged as winners from a group that included the home side An Riocht, Warrenpoint and Downpatrick. In the quarterfinals, a big win was recorded against Kilclief which set up a semifinal place against old rivals Bryansford. This was a tough encounter and in spite of going behind twice the Carryduff boys showed real character to emerge narrow winners. Rostervor were the opponents in the decider and in a match befitting a final, we saw great passages of play and some high quality score taking from both sides. At half time Carryduff again found themselves behind but in a powerful second half display, their tenacity shone through and Carryduff finished the game four points ahead.

It was a well deserved result and the Carryduff U12s can be proud of themselves not only for the result, but the way they conducted and represented the club throughout the day. Ryan Lavery lifted the cup on behalf of the Carryduff squad.

u12 Winning Team
